It Wants You!
No one can hear you. No one knows you’re there, and no one is coming to help. You’re terrified. What a frightening way to die!
✒️This was the first short story I wrote which went through a number of changes before the present title stuck.
The story began its life one breezy afternoon when I went for a walk on the beach in front of my house. It was a dark and grey and I shivered as I was blasted by the 🌡️fringed wind.
I was walking as fast as I could, just to keep warm. So 🥶chilli was it, that apart from the seagulls, the broad expanse of the beach was deserted, and I was alone.
I had already decided to write a short story, but what?
My walk was to help me 🧠think and come up with ideas, and I had a high expectation I would shortly have the outline idea.
My UK home is in a particularly ✔️✔️pretty part of the West Country and as the winter 🌞sun began to set, the sights and elements of my walk began to 💥fuse together to form the seed of an idea in my mind.
I hadn’t expected this to happen, but that day I had read you should write about what I know best. Also, that story elements are all around if we only choose to use them.
With that, turbo charged, literary wisdom firmly fixed at the forefront of my mind. Suddenly it came to me, not the entire narrative, but enough to start writing and I was SO excited to get started.
Was it really that simple?
I couldn’t get home quick enough to capture my outline ideas on ✍️paper. The last quarter of a mile back to my house, I began suffering with mental diarrhoea as my ideas multiplied and flourished and wanted to break free.
My head was so full of ideas I felt it would explode.
As soon as I got home I grabed my notpad and pen, and still shivering I wrote until my head was empty.
I hope you enjoy the story?
For a VERY limited period, this story is available free of charge in a variety of formats.
